BINGO: Thursdays at 10:15 AM. Cash Prizes! A fun and relaxing way to meet with friends, make new ones and aim for the jackpot! Evelyn Cavaliere, Coordinator.

 

BRIDGE CLUB: Tuesdays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Contact Milt Lamnin, Coordinator (610) 265-3915. Beginners are welcome to call Milt about joining!

 

CURRENT EVENTS DISCUSSION GROUP: Interested in what is happening in the news and would you like to discuss these events with others?  You can also get others’ points of view.  This group meets at 10:30 on Monday morning in the Library/Lounge.  Bring a recent newspaper or magazine article to use as a starting point for discussion.  Coordinator:  Joan Shaw.

MAH-JONGG: Mondays at 10:00 AM. All level players are welcome, starting with beginners! Our experienced players will be pleased to instruct beginners, so don't be shy, join the group!

 

PINOCHLE FOR LADIES AND GENTS: Daily game at 9:00 AM. Cut-throat tournament the 2nd Thursday of each month at 9:00 AM. Rain, snow or sleet, you can depend on the pinochle players to show up! Al DeViney, Coordinator. (Winners of tournament eligible to play in the fall Grand Tournament – cash prizes!)

       

 

POKER CLUB: Every Tuesday at 9:00 AM. $5.00 ante, $2 entry. Bernie Zelenak, Coordinator.

 

POOL: Table available four days a week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

 

CRAFTS: You are invited to join this special group which meets every Mon. and Tues. at 1 PM. Craft Shoppe Chair is Dot Price. Learn to knit and/or crochet, as well as work on other projects.  Drop in to check out the varied and lovely items on sale. Great place to buy gifts for you and others!

 

QUILTING: Fourth Wednesday of the month. 9:30 AM. Our experienced instructors: Ethel and Art Hutchinson. All levels welcome. FREE

 

LIBRARY: Open Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  Large print books are also available in the Lounge. Excellent book selections. Tapes and videos stored in Lounge – available to borrow. This includes tapes of General Meetings and presentations.

 

OUTREACH: This program serves the UMSSC members with information and assistance. An aide from Senator Daylin Leach's office will be available. An aide from State Representative Tim Brigg's office will also be available.  Check for times and days.

 

APPRISE COUNSELOR: Mr. Charles Dotille, Apprise Counselor, is available the third Wednesday of each month at 1:00 PM to assist with insurance and Medicare concerns. Call 610 265-4715 to make an appointment.

 

NURSE: A nurse from Bryn Mawr Hospital/Main Line Health is available in the Center Health Office every 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 10:00 AM to Noon…have your blood pressure regularly checked! 

 

              

GARDEN CLUB: Meetings on second and fourth Wednesdays 1:00 PM. Meeting Chair - Paul Buce. Open to all level gardeners…from novice to expert. If you don’t have a “green” thumb – come to the Garden Club – your thumb will soon turn GREEN!  Look for meeting dates in the spring!

 

THEATER WORKSHOP: Third Thurs. of the month at 1:30 PM. Director: Marge Treichler. We remember the yesterdays, look forward to the tomorrows, and revel in the present. Programs include, but not limited to…stream of consciousness, off-the-top-of-the-head Improvisation, mime, impersonation, stories, jokes, monologues, skits and games. You can join in or relax and enjoy the show!

 

COMPUTER CLUB: These meetings are open to all members of the UMSSC to discuss new technology, to solve problems involving members' own technology, and to share ideas and solutions. These sessions are open to all ability levels. No fee. No class limit. Every Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. Moderator: Art Hutchinson.

               

EXERCISE: Our exercise classes are programmed and conducted by professional trainers. The equipment is provided by the UMSSC budget.  

Chair Exercise:   Every Tues. and Thurs. 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM$1.00 per class – Coord: Jim Parvin 

      

 Aerobic Exercise/Dance:    Every Wed. in the Gym.     $2.00 per class – Coord: Louise Bailey 

 Co-ed Basketball:  Every Wed. 12 to 12:45 PM.  FREE        

                          

GENTLE YOGA: Fridays, 1:30 - $3.00 per class, Certified Instructor: Dr. Christine Grad            

*Meditation/yoga designed for physically handicapped in chairs as well as anyone with orthopedic situations such as shoulder problems, and hip and knee replacements.  Limit – 8 students per class.

 

STAND-UP YOGA: Mondays at 1:30 PM.   $3.00 per class – Certified Instructor: Dr. Christine Grad. Limit 8 students per class. 

 

GENERAL MEETING: Monthly General Meeting is held on the second Wednesday of the month.

SING ALONG – RHYTHM BAND: Every Friday at 10:00 AM. Theresa Smith is the Coordinator and Irene Knasiak is the Assistant Coordinator. We start off with the Sing-A-Long, which is immediately followed by the Rhythm Band, Rose Gallagher Coordinator. Join this activity even if you are not a singer – you can tap your toes, hum…start off your Friday having fun and a good time!

           

Music Instruction Group – Practice continues on Tuesdays. Music Lessons: Every Tues. 1:30 PM. Marge Treichler, Group Coordinator. Students are members who have committed to membership in the UMSSC Band. Lessons provided by Ed Hickman, professional musician. We are all beginners doing what we wanted to do when we were younger but had no time (or talent!). Now we have time and maybe still no talent, but we are learning and enjoying ourselves. Come-pursue a new, challenging, fun activity! The Center has a cello, trumpet and trombone just waiting for someone to pick them up and learn to play. Or! Bring your own instrument.

 

DANCE PARTY:  Every Wednesday at 1:00 PM in the GYM. Loretta DeLucca, Director. Enjoy line dancing? Want to learn how to line dance?  Want to show us some new steps? Don’t want to dance, just want to join folks to have a good time? Then Dance Party is just for you! What a neat way to exercise – it’s not a drag, it is fun! Fee: $1.00 per lesson.

 

 

MONTHLY CASINO TRIP – Usually the fourth Mondays of the month; however, check the calendar for the exact date. LEAVE THE CENTER AT 9:00 AM, RETURN APPROXIMATELY 6:15 PM.  MEMBERS ONLY - $30 PER PERSON, INCLUDES $20 COIN RETURN AND $5 FOOD COUPON –LIMIT 49 PASSENGERS. SIGN UP SHEETS IN THE LOBBY – COMPLETE PRIOR TO PAYING FOR THE TRIP. NO FAVORITES – FIRST COME-FIRST SERVED
